Measure Your Research Impact-h-index, impact factor and more: Journal Selection

Journal Selection

When deciding which journal to submit your new article to keep these things in mind:

  • Discipline relevance-does the journal reach your target audience?
  • Quality or impact of the journal-what is the impact factor of the journal (but do not use this as the only deciding factor)
  • Is it peer-reviewed (see Ulrichsweb link below in the Journal Selection Tools box)?
  • Prestige of the editorial team, contributors and the journal circulation
  • Availability- is the journal widely available (cost and distribution...the higher the cost, the less accessible)
  • Is it Open Access (see our guide on OA by clicking this link)?
